Six years is a long time to do something every day. I spent six and a half years trying to conceive. That was a long time. Two thousand, one hundred twelve days. I’m not going to count up how many menstrual cycles that was, although I kind of did already.
This blog is a happy birthday blog. We’re celebrating PathtoFertility’s sixth year, sixth birthday. The mission statement and purpose of PathtoFertility was posted just a few days before December 1, in 2009.
PathtoFertility | Providing Infertility Support for Six Years
I believe the count for PathtoFertility blogs is right around one thousand, five hundred fourteen. Give or take a few. That’s a lot of blogs. Thanks for reading. Here is the first blog, written right after thanksgiving 2009:
“If you're like me, Thanksgiving is still swirling around in your head and body from yesterday. Whether because you ate too much, or the conversations that you took part in are still in your head, or because you know about the leftovers waiting for later. There's probably a lot that you should be thankful for. Notice that I said, should. If you are struggling to create your family, you may be having a hard time feeling grateful or thankful. You may have been asked questions that strike right at your core...such as "when are you going to start a family?", "anything you want to announce?" "don't you want to have children?" and so on and so forth. You may have had to sit amidst children who were not yours, leaving you with a sense of longing.
I hope that you enjoyed a moment or two of feeling thankful. Perhaps for your spouse at your side, perhaps that the cranberry sauce was really that good, perhaps that you didn't have the clean up to do.
In the spirit of being thankful, Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) has created a gift for you. One that I personally hope brings you comfort, support, ideas, a smile, information and many other gifts as yet unknown. Read below for our new blog's name and mission statement. Then please join us Monday through Friday for a few moments designed just for you.
The Path to Fertility is a place for comprehensive information on infertility treatment in a sensitive and compassionate way. Blogger Lisa Rosenthal has a long history of fertility patient advocacy, support and infertility education that provides comfort, helpful suggestions and a smile or two to those undergoing or considering fertility treatment. The Path to Fertility is here for you, to keep you company on your journey. We welcome and encourage your comments and feedback.”
PathToFertility Is Thankful For Your Support
Last year, in 2014, I acknowledged the following individuals for their help and support:
“PathtoFertility is turning five later this month! While PathtoFertility and I are very close, sometimes even indistinguishable from one another, we are not one of the same. (However, for today’s blog when I refer to “we,” I do mean PathtoFertility and me.) PathtoFertility is the first responsibility that I focus on in the morning and it is one that I look forward to every single day. It’s quite an accomplishment, just staying together that long. For that opportunity and honor, I have some folks to thank.
Starting with the physician team of our fertility doctors at RMACT: Drs. Mark Leondires, Spencer Richlin, Joshua Hurwitz, Cynthia Murdock and Shaun Williams. The many other RMACT team members that find ways to weave PathtoFertility into conversations with patients on a regular basis and so support our mission of offering extended support and education through the blog. A few special callouts to Robin Mangieri, Greg Zola and Cara Murray for all the professional and personal support that they give on a day to day basis.”
This year, as PathtoFertility turns six, I would like to add the following people to my list of thank you’s. For their ardent support and care of PathtoFertility, thank you to Laura O’Reilly, Matthew Boley, Kate Doyle, Lisa Schuman, LCSW, and Alicia McNeill. So many guest bloggers over the years, passionate and dedicated, they include- Carolyn Gundell, MS, Laura Wolfe, RDN, CDE, and Monica Moore, MSN, RNC. All of our member of RMACT’s Integrated & Fertility Wellness Program (IFW) contribute regularly to PathtoFertility, as well as many others.
Most of all though, thank you to our patients and readers, who continue to confide in me. Who continue to inspire me. Who continue to remind me what it is like to be trying to conceive. Really, this blog, PathtoFertility, is for you.
A line, that I have been using a long time, warrants mention here.
PathtoFertility was created for one reason. And it has continued for one reason.
To remind you that you are not alone.
We are here for you. And we will continue to be here for you.
