ListenUp is the National Infertility Awareness Week's (NIAW) theme for 2017. RMACT has a modest goal of 3,000 this year. 3,000 letters that tell our legislators that access to infertility health care is important to you- their constituents. 3,000 letters that tell our Representatives and Senators that we want IVF coverage for our Veterans wounded in service to be permanent. 3,000 letters that say that we support the Adoption Tax Credit as a way to help build families.
3,000 Letters- Let's Exceed That Goal
3,000 letters for us to bring to Washington on May 18, to Advocacy Day with Resolve. There are over 3.5 million people who live in Connecticut. One in eight couples who try to conceive will encounter difficulties in conceiving. You may be one of them. You may know one of them.
Or you may simply know how important your family is to you. That your children mean everything to you.
3,000 letters aren't a lot. If you sign one, then we only need 2,999. You may be done building your family and feel comfortable sharing these letters with friends, family, co-workers. Or you may not. Please know that even signing one letter, for yourself, is all we really need you to do. We'll all do our part. Those of us who can go out and collect 100 letters will do just that. Those of us who can collect 1,000 letters- we'll do that. And for those of us who can sign one- we'll welcome that as well.
Resolve's Theme is ListenUp- National Infertility Awareness Week
ListenUp is the theme of National Infertility Awareness Week this year, from April 23-29. RMACT's NIAW Friends & Family Advocacy Day is on April 27. We hope to have reached or exceeded our goal by that night.
Here is an image from Advocacy Day last year, of then Congresswoman, now Senator Tammy Duckworth and Tyler Wilson, both wounded Veterans lobbying for IVF4Vets coverage. Tyler and Crystal Wilson are now celebrating the birth of their child and continue to support Resolve's efforts with the legislature.
Your Letters Worked!
So, please, print them, sign them, send them to us. These letters are going directly to your legislators. They will not be published anywhere, your name will not be shared anywhere.
Here are the step by step directions to print and sign these letters. It should take at most, about ten minutes.
Step By Step Directions for Letters
- Print a letter to Senator Blumenthal, sign and return to us
- Print a letter to Senator Murphy, sign and return to us
- Look at the Grid 2017 FINAL- to find your town and your Representative, print the appropriate letter, sign and return to us.
Of course, if you want to write more on these letters, that would be even better. However much or little you want to write- up to you.
