ivf-retrieval-socksSometimes it’s all about the socks.

Huh?

Let me back up here.  Kristen Darcy, a good friend of mine, is all about the socks this month.

Not sure that explanation actually helped.

OK, I will try again.

Kristen Darcy, actually one of my fertility heroes, who’s also written one of my favorite books on infertility, called “Love and Infertility” and who inspires so many on a daily basis has started a movement for February.

And it’s all about the socks.

Has it gotten any clearer?

OK, I’ll give you a BIG hint. It’s all about the IVF retrieval socks.show-us-ivf-retrieval-socks

IVF Retrieval Day Socks

I was surprised to hear that women are very particular about the socks they wear on retrieval day.

Retrieval day being the day, during an IVF cycle, where after using medications to stimulate the ovaries, eggs or ovum are removed to be fertilized.

Socks for good luck. Socks that make us feel hopeful. Socks that make us smile.

Kristen’s all about love this month. Loving yourself. Self care.

What she really wants is for you to show her your socks.

So I promised I would help.

Maybe this is new to you. It’s new to me.

What about it? How about a pair of extra special socks for day of retrieval? Maybe even magical socks.

After all, they’re really the only thing of your own that you can wear during the procedure.

What will you pick?

If I were doing this today?

I’d go with unicorn kitties. For some indefinable reason, that’s a winning combination for me.

So far on Kristen’s Facebook page, I’ve seen socks with hearts and socks with brightly colored stripes.

What would you add? How would your socks reflect your insides?

Maybe I wouldn’t pick unicorn kitties. Maybe I would pick babies. Or maybe I would pick rainbows.

Ok, not rainbows.

What would you pick to adorn yourself for retrieval?

Stay tuned. I’m hoping for pictures.

Caring for Yourself During Infertility

It’s all about the socks.

Only really, it’s all about how we love ourselves.

Why not pick some socks that make you feel

Hopeful

Or

Pretty

Or

Excited

Or

Calm

Or

 Loved

Or

Loving

Or

Silly

Or?

Special?

Playful?

There’s an incentive here too. Kristen’s offering a one hour coaching session to the socks that get the most likes. I know firsthand what it’s like to talk to Kristen. My suggestion? Get a pair of socks and enter. She’s inspiring and uplifting in a real and genuine way. She’s experienced about fertility and infertility and has a way of seeing and supporting you that feels fresh and new.

If you want to remain anonymous, send the picture to me at FertileYoga@gmail.com and I will post it for you.

This month it’s all about the socks.

Except, really, it’s all about loving yourself.

Thanks Kristen for the reminder.
