February is the month that we celebrate love– at least according to Hallmark and all the other card companies. And the chocolate manufacturers. And the flower distributors. Yes, it’s commercial. Yes, it’s a money-making, economic and strategic plan for consumerism. Yes, it’s all that and it’s more. It’s about how you choose to demonstrate love.
It’s all about love. We turn February red and pink and there are hearts everywhere you look. We can do love quietly or we can do it with fireworks. Love is love.
Fertility Peer Support Group Celebrates Love
This month, for Ladies Night In, we are celebrating love of all kinds. The love we have for each other in our groups. The love that we have for our partners or spouses. The love that we have for our families. The love that we have in our communities.
We know that the love we’re missing out on is the love we want to give as a parent. We want to feel that. In fact, we already feel it; we just don’t have the child on which to bestow it. Amazing isn’t it? The love is there and ready. All we are waiting for is the baby to arrive and it will bloom like the roses that are ever-present this month. We are ready for that love to have a place to grow and flourish.
It’s all about love.
And so in Danbury tonight and Trumbull next week, we’re all about love. We know that it’s not a big, whispered about secret that infertility and fertility treatment are not fun. Many of us get through it with grace, acquiring strength as we go along. Learning more about ourselves and our partners if we have them.
But not so much fun. Not so much the path you would have chosen.
We’re inviting our partners this month to have a little extra love. Even a little fun. Because why not? Are we going to wait until we have a baby to have some fun and enjoyment in our lives again? Infertility can be isolating enough. We don’t always share what’s going on with fertility treatments with our usual support systems– our best friends, work colleagues and family. So who are we sharing with?
Each other. At Ladies Night In.
Where you can talk about your infertility experiences and find empathy. Where you can listen and offer a comforting word or two. Where you can find out some tips on how to give yourself an injection with the least possibility of bruising.
Yes, we get that specific. Because that’s what it’s all about.
Getting through this.
Because it’s so much better to be on a journey with a friend. Even if it’s someone you’ve never met before.
Join us tonight. And if your partner can’t make it, come anyway.
One thing you can count on at Ladies Night In (even when it’s masquerading as Couples Night In), is that you won’t feel alone.
Carrie and I look forward to seeing you tonight and next week.
