Third Party Reproduction SupportThe Integrated Fertility and Wellness Program (IFW) at Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) offers varied services and seminars every week. Likely, there is one that will fit just what you need.

The spotlight today is on a special support group that meets only once a month at RMACT – "Third Party Reproduction Support Group". This group typically meets on the first Friday of each month and is open to all people who are considering or have already decided to use some form of third party reproduction family building services.

What is Third Party Reproduction?

ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine) defines Third Party Reproduction in this way:
"Third-party reproduction is an arrangement where a person or couple receives help from other(s) to have a child. This help can be in the form of donated eggs, sperm, or embryos; carrying the pregnancy; or a combination of these types of reproductive assistance. The person(s) who will raise the child after birth are called “intended parent(s).” The person who is donating sperm, eggs, or embryos, or carrying the pregnancy (gestational carrier) is called the “third party.” The third party is involved in the reproductive process only and does not participate in the raising of the child. Third-party donors can be someone the intended parents know or they may be anonymous."

Third Party Reproduction Support Group

Some examples of conversations at a third party reproduction support group include:

Egg DonorsEgg donors for women who want to conceive, carry and give birth to a child but are unable to do so because of an unresolved medical issue.

Sperm Donors – Sperm donation and the different options available for choosing sperm.

SurrogacyGestational carriers, (sometimes called a surrogate)- a woman who carries a baby to term for another person. There is no genetic link between a gestational carrier and the child she is carrying.

This group is free of charge and welcomes patients in all stages of the process – from thinking about moving forward using an egg and/or sperm donor to choosing a donor to beginning your cycle and finally, to parenting. Come join us- we supply bagels and coffee!

Please note a time change: This group meets once a month from 8:30 AM  9:30 AM in Norwalk.
