Fertility Humor - One Woman's Trigger Shot StoryIt’s been a heavy week. Maybe October’s just a heavy month.

Yellow, orange and red with the autumn falls leaving their green behind. Turning cooler, away from summer and towards the winter.

Pink for breast cancer. Walks, runs, products and events turn it pink.

Blue and pink for Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day and month. We remember our babies, held gently in our hearts.

Purple for anti-bullying. Spirit Day yesterday for our LGBTQ youth and standing up with them so that they know they are not alone.

Big month, October.

And it’s a lot.

Got it.

Want to hear something funny? Because I’m ready for a smile.

I met a woman tonight in Fertile Yoga who provided one. She shared this story. We laughed pretty hard. And then we thought, is there someone out there who can top it?

Fertility Humor – An Unbelievable Trigger Shot Story

Welcome to Effing Funny Fertile Friday. We’re all grown-ups. We know what effing stands for. If you’re not sure, email me at FertileYoga@gmail.com. I’ll explain it to you. Use the same secure and confidential email address if you have a story about injections that can top this one.

This woman, let’s call her, Charlise (no, that Charlise, an entirely different Charlise). Charlise is in the middle of an IUI cycle. She’s driving to her best friend’s bachelorette party several hours away because she’s been told that she will be fine away for a day or two during her fertility treatment cycle.

She’s driving through the Lincoln Tunnel. Literally, in the middle of Lincoln Tunnel, between New York and New Jersey and she gets a call from her fertility doctor that she needs to do the trigger shot. (How is there even a phone signal in there?)

Now.

She needs to do the shot.

Right now.

She’s alone.

Underneath a massive river, in a tunnel.

And it’s time to do her trigger shot.

Ok then.

She gets out of the tunnel on the other side and finds a gas station.

Oh yeah, a gas station. It just doesn’t get any better than this because we all know how classy and clean gas stations generally are.

It does get better than this.

Since the shot needs to be given RIGHT NOW, and the women’s room is occupied, she uses the men’s room.

Now, I mean no disrespect to men, so just don’t even start with me about this.

But if we think women’s rooms aren’t so clean and classy in a gas station in the middle of nowhere, how clean and classy do any of us think that a men’s room is?

Yeah, it’s that clean and classy.

And in she goes.

And like a trooper, or like the mom she wants to be, out comes the cooler with the medication in it, down go the pants to expose her bottom and in goes the needle.

May not have been a classy or clean rest room, but I met this woman and I guarantee, it was a classy and clean bottom that injection went into.

Laughed pretty hard about this one tonight.

What won’t we do to become parents.

And in this case, where won’t we do it to become parents.

To quote Charlise, “you just can’t make this stuff up”.

Thanks Charlise, you really did make my day yesterday.

Anyone out there with a better story about where they did an injection?

I’ll save it for next weeks, Effing Funny Fertile Friday blog.

Even in the middle of October we need to smile.

Or better yet?

Laugh out loud.
