Preconception WellnessAre you hoping to become or actively trying to become pregnant? Having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby starts before conception.

Think of it as preparing yourself in the best way possible for the baby you are hoping to carry. If you were planting a seed, you would check and make sure that the soil has the right ph content. You would remove any large stones and other debris. You would carefully pick a spot that has the amount of sun that is needed and where the balance of shade is optimum. If it doesn't rain regularly, you would water. You would add fertilizer after analyzing the soil needs. Weeds are pulled on a frequent basis to ensure that your plant has plenty of room to set down roots. You take care, good care, because the growth of your plant depends on it.

Tips for Getting Pregnant & a Healthy Pregnancy

Growing a baby is very similar. And while getting pregnant precisely when you want to may not be in your control, preparing yourself in the healthiest possible way is largely up to you.

It's never too late to make changes that can fashion the best environment for your growing baby. Often we get the positive pregnancy test and then make changes in our lifestyle and food choices. Many of us are also now thinking ahead and making changes earlier.

Making changes that you know are the right ones isn't always easy. There's a lot of information out there, as well as plenty of misinformation. For information that you can count on, join us at a free Pre-Conception Wellness Seminar. Carolyn Gundell, MS, Reproductive Medicine Associate of Connecticut (RMACT)'s Fertility Nutritionist will be our presenter for the evening. Register here!  While the event is free, we do appreciate RSVP's.
