Infertility Support ~ A Poem

Infertility

I feel tired.

Beaten down.

Sorrow has permeated my soul.

Recolored it impenetrable.

Interminable discomfort and grief from what I’m missing.

I am not infertile.

infertility poem light in snow picBut infertility has taken me away.

My mirror no longer reflects a recognizable image.

Sadness is what is echoed back to me.

I am not infertile.

I am me.

Underneath all the layers of disappointment, fear and anger.

I am me.

I am not infertile.

I am not broken.

I am not shame and guilt and inability.

I am me.

Strong, resilient.

Underneath these feelings,

I am me.

I will emerge stronger.

Wiser.

More me.

I am me.

I defy labels.

I am not infertile.

I am also not mommy.

Not yet.

I am me.

A living being, full of light.

And darkness.

Of hope.

And despair.

I am me.
