The following day, GayParentsToBe.com is sponsoring the Surrogacy Seminar and Gay Parenting Expo hosted by the LGBTQ organization Men Having Babies.

Dr. Leondires, Medical Director of Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) and GayParentsToBe.com, married his husband in 2011 and has two sons through surrogacy. The combination of his professional and personal experience with surrogacy gives him a unique perspective when working with patients. For two consecutive years, Dr. Leondires has been selected through a peer-review process for Best Doctors in America, which represents the top five percent of physicians across the country. He is also a Castle Connelly “Top Doctor” for his work in the field of reproductive endocrinology.

 

Beatrice Abshire, who has 20 years of experience working in the fields of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine, is the Third Party Financial Coordinator with RMACT and GayParentsToBe.com. She can answer financial questions about family planning and working with a gestational carrier. Beatrice is also fluent in Spanish.

GayParentsToBe.com and TCC Present an LGBTQ Family Planning Event

Medical, psychological and legal experts will provide insights during a panel discussion.

 

Norwalk, CT March 26, 2014

On April 5 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. the Triangle Community Center (TCC) of Fairfield County, CT and GayParentsToBe.com will host “Getting Started: A Lunch & Learn on LGBTQ Family Planning.” During the event, a panel of experts will discuss starting a family in the LGBTQ community. The LGBTQ Family Building event will include a light lunch and is being held at TCC’s new location at 618 West Avenue in Norwalk.

 

The panel of experts is comprised of Mark Leondires, MD, Medical Director for Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) and GayParentsToBe.com; Lisa Tuttle, PhD, who specializes in third-party assisted reproduction at RMACT; and Elizabeth Swire Falker, Esq., who is a prominent lawyer specializing in third-party assisted reproduction. The panel will take questions from the attendees and will explore many facets of surrogacy, including medical (in vitro fertilization or IVF), psychological (emotional impact of choosing an egg donor, gestational carriers/surrogates) and legal (importance of using an attorney).

Fertility Doctor Discusses Surrogacy at LGBT Family Building Expo Presented by the Center

describe the imageNORWALK, CT (April 25, 2013) – On April 27 in New York City, Dr. Mark Leondires, Medical Director for Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) and GayParentsToBe.com, will participate in a panel about surrogacy for LGBT families at the LGBT Family Building Expo. The Expo, which is presented by the Center, is designed to educate the gay and lesbian community about their options for building a family, including adoption, alternative insemination, foster care and surrogacy, as well as discuss the emotional and legal issues. GayParentsToBe.com, which is primarily an informational resource for the LGBT community, is sponsoring the Expo.

 

“I am proud to share my opinions and expertise as both a dad and a physician at a larger fertility center. I hope to offer to insights, support, and professional expertise to the LGBT community,” says Dr. Mark Leondires, a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist. “As a father and husband, I want to share the joy of being a parent with others in the LGBT community. While it was a hurdle to get started, the rewards are boundless. I hope to use my experience as a fertility doctor to help others understand their medical options when it comes to LGBT family building.”

 

During the “Family Building Information Session: Surrogacy,” Dr. Leondires will be part of a panel that will share their personal and professional perspectives as experts in psychology, law, insurance and fertility. Dr. Leondires’ goal is to demystify and simplify the process of becoming a parent through surrogacy, including the role of assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
